Shelter House of semi-autonomus accomodation "Arethousa"

The "Amaltheia" Psychosocial Rehabilitation Day Center, operates the "Arethoussa" shelter house of semi-autonomus accomodation, since August 2012 (Project Code 373825/2012). The shelter house, is an alternative community structure of residence, within a broader psychosocial rehabilitation program, with little support from the Interdisciplinary Therapeutic team  of the "Amaltheia" Day Center (psychologist, social worker, nurse, etc).
The apartment is located in the heart of the city of Tripolis, in the Municipality of Arcadia and there are four (4) people staying there. The support for tenants, is based in two main axes:
1. The first, is about the constant involvement of the occupants in all household activities, but also their self-care in a Protected Apartment.
2. The second has to do with the continuous promotion of the social presence and participation of the residents in the neighborhood and community in which the Protected Apartment  is located, making the most out of the opportunities for social interaction and networking, that the community provides.

Constant pursuit of the Interdisciplinary Therapeutic team who assists the tenants, is the gradual withdrawal of support, in order to promote socialization and teamwork, whilst respecting the personality of its occupants. The main goal of the tenants living in the shelter apartment, is to be more autonomous and functional, thus achieving their reintegration into the community. This is achieved, with the support from the Interdisciplinary Therapeutic Team of the "Amalthia" Day Center, that supports them every time they are in need. Ιn particular:

1.    At the shelter house of semi-autonomus accomodation, we aim to permanently engage the residents in all their domestic activities and their self-care. The goal is achieved through a personalized daily life learning program for each tenant with the support and supervision of the person in charge of the shelter house in cooperation with the rest of the staff. Our goal is also to promote the social presence and participation of the residents in the neighborhood and in the community in which the shelter house (and not only) is located, making the most of the opportunities for social interaction and networking that the community (with the widest concept) provides.

2.    At the Day Center "Amalthia", the residents are supported through individual psychological support and psychotherapy meetings. They also participate in group psychotherapeutic and occupational therapies. Psychotherapeutic groups, focus on interpersonal relationships, emotional processing, more mature defenses, and reality delivery. They also aim to allow the tenant to communicate with other people, to engage in conversations and relationships, to exchange views, express feelings and, more generally, to be able to meet the needs of a normal life. In occupational therapies by employing occupants with useful items, resistance to the recurrence of the disease is enhanced and it also offers satisfaction with the acquisition of new ones and the improvement of old skills. Occupational therapy, with this kind of employment, contributes to the regaining of self-esteem and confidence in oneself and offers them a more mature responsibility with long-term goal of professional reintegration. The involvement of the tenants in group activities enhances the tenants to mobilize and build trust in the team to participate together in various events, excursions and holidays taking place in the community.
